How this is worked out
Calories burned uses MET values from the Compendium of Physical Activities, the standard reference table exercise-science calculators draw from.
Every figure here is a population average, not a prescription. Hold a target for two or three weeks, track what actually happens, and adjust. If you have a medical condition or are pregnant, talk to a doctor or dietitian rather than a calculator.
Frequently asked questions
How is calories burned calculated?
Using the activity's MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) value from the Compendium of Physical Activities, multiplied by your bodyweight and how long you did it for.
Does this calculator account for fitness level?
Not directly — MET values are averages for an activity at a given intensity, so actual calories burned can vary with fitness level, effort, and individual metabolism.
